Drive-By Shooting on Park Avenue - Cranston Police Asking for Public's Help

The Cranston Police Department announced that it is actively investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred Tuesday evening on Park Avenue.

It marks the latest in the city, which saw a man charged with DUI on Wednesday morning for driving a car into a lounge.

Police say that at approximately 8:41 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, officers responded to the area of Park Avenue and Potter Street after receiving reports of shots being fired involving two vehicles.

According to police, officers located the intended victim's vehicle nearby and determined that multiple rounds had been fired into the vehicle.

Police say the occupants were not injured and that during the investigation, officers also determined that a second vehicle traveling in the area was struck by gunfire.

The occupants of that vehicle were also unharmed.

Investigators recovered multiple shell casings and other evidence from the scene, and surveillance video from nearby businesses and FLOCK automated license plate reader data are being reviewed as part of the investigation, say police.

The investigation remains active, and no further information is being released at this time.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information, surveillance video, or dash camera footage from the area of Park Avenue and Potter Street between 8:15 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. on July 7 is asked to contact the Cranston Police Department Detective Division at 401-942-2211
