Man Shot in Face With BB Gun Leaving Planet Fitness in Providence

A man was reportedly shot in the face with a BB gun in Providence when he was approached by a car with four men in it.
The shooting occurred late Thursday night as he was leaving a Planet Fitness.
This marks just the latest episode of BB gun violence in the city.

About Incident
Shortly after 10 PM on Thursday, police responded to a call at Planet Fitness on West Fountain Street for a man who thought he had been struck by a paintball.
The man told police he was leaving the gym when a car pulled up with four men in it — when one of the males opened the door and fired what appeared to be a projectile at him.
The victim, who was struck in the face and was bleeding, had also been hit in the back and his leg.
Police determined the injuries to be those of a BB gun; the victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
Upon investigation, police observed damage to a window at Planet Fitness and a BB projectile was found in the shattered glass.
Latest BB Gun Incident in City
Juveniles in a BMW terrorized Providence for hours with BB guns this summer.
On July 9, police received multiple calls for suspects shooting at people with BB gun rifles, ultimately leading police on a five-hour chase through the city.
A victim who spoke with GoLocal in August described the terror.
“Having three dudes getting out of a car coming at me was really scary,” said the victim, who sustained injuries in the assault.
