Bateson shared the following:

"This just in: I’m wrapping up my TV news career on Friday...What a wild ride the last 8 years have been.

This job took me to Minnesota - where I met truly the nicest people in the world. To North Carolina - where I met my husband, gained a second family, and coworkers became lifelong friends. Then back to Rhode Island - where I lived out my dream of working for my hometown station alongside the people I grew up watching. These are all moments I once dreamed about and am so grateful for… But dreams change.

I’ve been waking up for the last 8 years to 2 am alarm clocks. Working overnights, weekends and holidays for nearly a decade, you sacrifice a lot of moments with loved ones. I’ve learned all those little moments are really the big ones.

With a lot of self-reflection, thought and prayer, I know closing this chapter is what’s best for me. I’ve accepted a job outside of the industry that will grant me a full night’s sleep, weekends and holidays off, and being more present for the people in my life.

Thank you to everyone I’ve met along the way and to the viewers for your continued support. You’ve impacted me more than you know."
