About Incident

Shortly after 4 PM on Friday, police went to 25 Denison street to assist Family Services in allowing the children of Scott MacLean — who died in the standoff — into the house.

According to police, they asked Bouras to move the news vehicle a street over for the family privacy and Bouras complied.

Police reported that the family arrived shortly after 5 PM, at which time Joshua MacLean, age 30, began to approach Bouras aggressively while shouting at her.

While police said they ordered MacLean to refrain from approaching Bouras further, he reportedly disregarded commands and pushed Bouras into a concrete wall while she was filming.

MacLean was handcuffed and arrested and is now facing assault charges.

Prior to moving to Cincinnati, Joanna spent two years working at WBBH-TV (NBC/ABC) in Fort Myers, Florida, where she covered Southwest Florida's toxic algae crisis and the shooting of Fort Myers Police Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller in early 2020.

Before moving to Florida, Joanna worked at KOLN (CBS) in Lincoln, Nebraska, as a news reporter/MMJ/fill-in anchor. While at KOLN, Joanna earned two Heartland Emmy Awards. Latest Violence Toward Media in Rhode Island

The reported violence against a reporter is the latest in Rhode Island.

In 2013, ABC 6 reporter Abbey Niezgoda was on location reporting when she was attacked by a woman — and her pit bulls

The video of the incident showed Melissa Lawrence, wielding a baseball bat, throwing a rock at the ABC6 crew and then sending her dogs to attack. Lawrence was ultimately charged with felony assault.
