There are bad shooting nights and then there was PC’s game on Wednesday night against Seton Hall.

The Providence College men's basketball team shot 34% from the field, 33% from the 3-point line, and 37% from the free-throw line.

Then, add 16 turnovers and you end up with a crushing loss and fall to 8th in the Big East.

PC was defeated by the Seton Hall Pirates, 60-43, on Wednesday at Alumni Hall.

The Friars record drops to 9-9 overall and 5-7 in BIG EAST play. Nate Watson and Noah Horchler each registered 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds.

Game Story

David Duke opened the scoring for the Friars with a three-point basket and only scored three more points in the rest of the game. The teams traded baskets through the first four minutes. At the 15:37 mark, the Friars led 7-6.

With 12:45 left in the first half, Duke broke the team's scoring drought with a layup. Shortly after, Brycen Goodine buried three-pointers on back-to-back possessions to extend the Friars lead to 15-8. Goodine finished with nine points and a game-high three blocks.

Seton Hall responded with an 8-1 scoring run to level the game at 16. Ahead of the final media timeout of the first half, Horchler and Seton Hall's Sandro Mamukelashvili exchanged dunks.

Providence led 20-18 at the 3:32 timeout. With 1:23 remaining in the half, Horchler knocked down a three-pointer. On the other hand, the Pirates continued to struggle from three-point territory, opening the game 0-13.

The Friars led at halftime, 25-22. Providence shot 9-23 (39.1%) from the field, 4-7 (57.1%) from three, and 3-6 (50.0%) from the free throw line. Seton Hall shot 10-35 (28.6%) from the field, 0-13 (0%) from three, and 2-3 (66.7%) from the free throw line.

The Pirates opened the half on a 6-0 scoring run, capped off by basket from Myles Cale. At the 18:06 mark, Nate Watson (Portsmouth, Va.) dunked it for the first Friars points of the second half. Seton Hall held a 28-27 lead.

With 15:46 remaining, Seton Hall scored in transition and forced a Friars timeout. The Pirates owned a seven-point lead, 34-27. Following the pause in the action, Watson scored off an assist by A.J. Reeves.

At the 8:19 mark, the Pirates held an 11-point advantage, 46-35. Seton Hall was in the midst of a 12-2 scoring run that gave them the first double-digit lead by either team in the game.

With 6:31 left to play, Horchler added a three-pointer from the top of the key. On the ensuing possession, Seton Hall's Sandro Mamukelashvili matched it with a three-pointer of his own. The Pirates maintained their lead, 53-40, into the final media timeout.

Providence finished 17-50 (34.0%) from the field, 6-18 (33.3%) from three, and 3-8 (37.5%) from the free throw line. Seton Hall finished 23-59 (39.0%) from the field, 4-24 (16.7%) from three, and 10-11 (90.9%) from the free throw line. Sandro Mamukelashvili and Myles Cale led the way for the Pirates with 20 and 19 points, respectively.

Horchler and Watson were the only players to finish in double-figures for the Friars. Duke finished with a game-high six assists. The Friars outrebounded the Pirates by one, but turned the ball over nine more times.

NEXT UP: Providence will stay home and play the St. John's Red Storm on Saturday, Feb. 6 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. The game is set for tip-off at 2 p.m. on FS1.
