The Providence College men’s basketball team came back from a 12-point deficit with less than 5 minutes left to tie the game -- and then lost to the very talented #11-ranked Creighton Blue Jays in the last second 67-65.

For much of the game the Friars seemed to, shall we say, be less than performing at their peak.

A drive by David Duke at the 1:46 mark cut the lead Blue Jays lead to 65-61

Then, a Nate Watson offensive rebound and put back with 50 seconds could have cut Creighton’s lead to just two but it rolled out.

Two free throws got the Friars to 65-63 by Noah Horchler.

The PC press forced a turnover with just 14.7 giving the Friars the chance to tie the game.

A drive by Horchler tied the game at 65 with 7 seconds and then Creighton exploited the Friars defense once again.

A mental lapse by the Friars on Creighton’s last possession allowed Christian Bishop to race down the lane for a dunk — he finished the game with 5 points.

The Friars' last shot at 0.8 by Duke fell far short.

The Friars are now 7-4 overall and 3-2 in the Big East.

How Did The Friars Get So Far Behind?

The two top Friars stars Duke and Watson each scored 13 points and shot a combined 7 for 21.

A.J. Reeves was not much help either scoring just 10 points on 3-10

Marcus Zegarowski of Creighton led all scorers with 20 points.
