The New England Patriots have acquired wide receiver Mohamed Sanu from the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a 2020 second-round draft pick, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“I appreciate everything the organization has done for my family and I. Mr. Blank, TD, Coach Q and everyone through the organizaton. I am forever grateful fo the opportunity. To my teammates and fans, y’all know how I feel about y’all love y’all to death,” Sanu said in a tweet.

The move happened early Tuesday morning following New England’s 33-0 win over the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.

About Sanu

Sanu has played eight seasons in the NFL between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Atlanta Falcons.

He can play both on the inside and the outside, which will help take the pressure off of Julian Edelman in the slot.

In his career, Sanu has played 110 games, hauled in 377 passes for 4,300 yards and has 25 touchdowns.

This season, in seven games with the 1-6 Falcons, Sanu has 33 catches for 313 yards and one touchdowns.

Wide Receiver Depth

The acquisition of Sanu gives the Patriots some much needed wide receiver depth after they entered Monday's game with just three healthy wide receivers.

Sanu joins Edelman, Phillip Dorsett rookies Jakobi Meyers and Gunner Olszewski and Josh Gordon.

Rookie N’Keal Harry is expected to come off of injured reserve and be ready to play in New England’s week nine matchup with Baltimore.
