The University of Rhode Island Rams men’s basketball team beat the in-state rival Providence College Friars 75-61 on Friday night at the Ryan Center in Kingston.
The Rams got a big game from forward Cyril Langevine and Fatts Russell.

It is the seventh straight game in which Russell has scored at least 20 points.
A key to the Rhode Island win was the Rams forcing the Friars into 22 turnovers in the game.
Of those turnovers, 11 of them came on URI steals.
With the win, URI improves to 6-3 overall and remains undefeated at The Ryan Center.
For the Friars, they drop to 5-5 on the season and have now lost four of their last five games.
Rams Pull Away from Friars
The Rams led by 11 points, 38-29, at the half and were in control.
However, in the second half, they saw Providence cut their lead to two, 57-55, on a jump shot from Nate Watson with 6:46 to play.
It was Watson’s sixth straight point for the Friars, getting them back into the game.
However, PC could not get the level as the Rams would take control.
Langevine knocked down a jumper, and then Russell nailed a three to push the URI lead to 62-55.
Russell would knock down another three to give Rhode Island a ten-point lead, 65-55, with 4:54 left to play.
After a Tyrese Martin jumper went to push URI’s lead to 67-55, Russell knocked down another three with a hand in his face to give the Rams a commanding 70-55 lead.
PC would not get closer than 12 points the rest of the way as the Rams would earn their second win over the Friars in three years.
Providence was led in the game by Alpha Diallo, who poured in 13 points, but had five turnovers.
David Duke added 12 points and five rebounds, but turned the ball over six times.
URI Capitalizes on PC Turnovers
The Friars got off to the start they wanted, jumping out to an early 10-4 lead on a layup by Kalif Young just four minutes into the game.
However, mistakes would hurt the Friars and allow the Rams to capitalize.
PC turned the ball over 13 times in the first half and Rhode Island took advantage, netting 16 points off of the turnovers.
Five of the turnovers came from Diallo.
Despite the errors, PC grabbed a 21-18 lead on a three by Emmitt Holt with 8:45 to play in the half.
From there, the Rams would take control.
Sparked by back-to-back layups from Jeff Dowtin and Russell, Rhode Island would close the half on a 20-8 run capped off by a Langevine fast-break layup to take a 38-29 lead into the locker room.
Langevine had a double-double in the first half, leading the Rams with 13 points and ten rebounds.
PC went the final three minutes of the half without a field goal and missed numerous free throws.
