Ex. Bruins Coach Julien Named Canadiens Head Coach
Wednesday, February 15, 2017
Former Boston Bruins Head Coach Claude Julien has been named the new head coach of the Montreal Canadiens.
Montreal fired coach Michel Therrien on Tuesday and hired Julien just a week after he was fired from Boston. The move also comes just two days after the Bruins beat the Canadiens 4-0 at TD Garden.
Julien coached the Canadiens from 2002-2006.

Julien finished his career in Boston as the longest-tenured active head coach in the NHL. His 419 wins in nine seasons is the most wins in Bruins history.
Julien led Boston to their first Stanley Cup in almost 40 years in 2011, defeating the Vancouver Canucks in game 7. Boston got back to the finals two years later but lost to the Blackhawks in six games.
However, Boston missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons and currently sit one point outside of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with a record of 26-23-6.
Habs asked Bruins on Sunday for permission to speak with Claude Julien, according to source
