Boston Bruins Send Former Friar Acciari Down to P-Bruins

Noel Acciari

Former Providence College hockey star and Johnston native Noel Acciari was sent down to Providence Bruins training camp by Boston head coach Claude Julien.

"It was Acciari’s first game, he showed some grit and even penalty killed," said Julien.

Acciari was sent down along with Chris Breen, Anthony Camara, Brandon DeFazio, Justin Hickman and Ben Sexton while the Bruins 2015 draft picks were returned to their junior teams.

Goaltenders Malcolm Subban and Zane McIntyre were also sent down to Providence.

Noel Acciari

The Bruins signed Acciari to a two year deal back in June after he helped Providence College win the National Championship, scoring 15 goals and recording 17 assists in his senior season.

Acciari finished his career at PC with 32 goals and 33 assists for a total of 65 points.

Acciari is from Johnston, Rhode Island and played at Bishop Hendricken High School where he led the Hawks to a State Championship in 2007 and was named team captain in 2009.

Boston and Providence Bruins

After missing the playoffs last season, the Boston Bruins kick off their 2015-16 season on Thursday, October 8th when they host the Winnipeg Jets at the TD Garden.

The Providence Bruins begin their season on Friday, October 9th at the Dunkin' Donuts Center against the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins.
