Former Providence College hockey star and Johnston native Noel Acciari was sent down to Providence Bruins training camp by Boston head coach Claude Julien.

"It was Acciari’s first game, he showed some grit and even penalty killed," said Julien.

Acciari was sent down along with Chris Breen, Anthony Camara, Brandon DeFazio, Justin Hickman and Ben Sexton while the Bruins 2015 draft picks were returned to their junior teams.

Goaltenders Malcolm Subban and Zane McIntyre were also sent down to Providence.

Acciari finished his career at PC with 32 goals and 33 assists for a total of 65 points.

Acciari is from Johnston, Rhode Island and played at Bishop Hendricken High School where he led the Hawks to a State Championship in 2007 and was named team captain in 2009.

The Providence Bruins begin their season on Friday, October 9th at the Dunkin' Donuts Center against the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins.
