Men’s College Basketball Transfer Portal Officially Opens Tuesday
To date, six Providence College Friars are expected to enter the transfer portal.

Those announcements were made before the portal officially opened.
Here is the breakdown on the timeline and the so-called rules.
It officially opens for men’s basketball on Tuesday, April 7, the day after the National Championship game.
Key 2026 Transfer Portal Details:
- Opening Date: April 7, 2026.
- Closing Date: The portal closes on April 21, 2026 (two-week window).
- Women's Portal: Opens on April 6, 2026.
- Coaching Changes: If a head coach leaves, a 15-day window opens for players, starting 5 days after the new coach is hired.
2026 College Basketball Transfers
Stefan Vaaks ➡️ Illinois
The Estonian came to PC and became a proverbial diaper dandy. Stefan Vaaks was named to the All-Big East freshman team.

The sharpshooter has posted to social media that he is leaving Providence.
Rich Baron
The junior who has often been injured showed great promise as a freshman.
He was selected to the All-Big East freshman team two years ago.
Daquan Davis
Davis was originally a Cooley recruit and then decommitted after Cooley left for Georgetown.
After a strong year at Florida State, Davis transferred to PC. He was slated to be the Friars point guard, but played just 12 minutes.
Now he is off to the portal again.
Jaylen Harrell
One of Providence College’s prized recruits, Jaylen Harrell, is expected to enter the transfer portal.
He and Jamier Jones were Kim English’s premier recruits. While Jones played well and made the All-Big East Freshman Team, Harrell played in just 6 games and averaged just 3.7 PPG.

Oswin Erhunmwunse ➡️ Creighton
On Thursday, Oswin Erhunmwunse confirmed he is exploring his options.
The 6’9” sophomore was a shot-blocking force for the Friars last year, averaging 2.1 blocks per game.
But, he seemed to regress offensively and averaged just 6.9 PPG and 8.3 rebounds.
Jamier Jones ➡️ Missouri
On Friday, ON3 reported that Jones would enter the portal.
Jones, a 6-foot-6 guard, averaged 11.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game this season while shooting 57% from the field.
Miles Byrd ➡️ PC
San Diego State transfer guard Miles Byrd announced his commitment to Providence last Thursday, choosing the Friars over the University of Kentucky and several other high-major programs.
Byrd, a 6-6, 190-pound guard, is coming off a strong season in which he averaged 10.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 40.5% from the field. He also added 1.9 steals and 1.2 blocks per game, earning Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year honors for his impact on that end of the floor.
Byrd is likely to earn in the $2 million range for the upcoming season.

Dink Pate ➡️ PC
Dink Pate is a three-year professional who has never played college basketball. The G-Leaguer player averaged 16 points a game this past season for the Westchester Knicks, the affiliated team of the New York Knicks.
Pate signed with the Friars last week.

Gavin Hightower ➡️ PC
Gavin Hightower was a freshman at the University of South Florida this year, playing for Bryson Hodgson.
The point guard is 6'1" and 165.
He averaged 10 PPG and hit just one 3-pointer the entire season. He had 45 assists and 31 turnovers.
