Ed Cooley loves Providence -- and he is taking it with him.
Cooley helped build the Providence College men’s basketball team into a regular at the NCAAs Big Dance.

Most important to the strength of the program was he became a consistent recruiter of 4-star players to Providence.
Now, he is taking them with him.
During his departure from PC to Georgetown, Cooley repeatedly made statements of appreciation to the college, President Kenneth Sicard and athletic director Steve Napolillo.
And to remember the Friars, he is recruiting the hell out of the recruits who had committed to PC.
Grabbing the 4-Star Recruits
He has already convinced a talented 4-star big man Drew Fielder to decommit from Providence and commit to Georgetown. That took place on Tuesday.
Then there is 2024 recruit Kayvaun Mulready — another 4-star recruit from Worcester Academy who has decommitted from the Friars and has committed to be one of Cooley’s Hoyas. That get was announced on Wednesday.
And there is the case of PC 4-star recruit Garwey Dual, who has decommitted from the Friars and is yet to announce his intentions.
Add in present Friar and future starting point guard Jayden Pierre who is just a freshman and entered the transfer portal earlier this week.
Remember, 4-star recruits are fairly rare at PC — some of the notables in recent years are A.J. Reeves, Nate Watson, and David Duke.
Those are four top-tier recruits who would likely start for PC for two to three years.
Before Cooley, 4-star recruits were a very rare get. Rick Pitino's Final Four team had only one top-tier recruit and he was a transfer - Delray Brooks.
Cooley’s love of his 12 years at Providence is demonstrated by his collection of souvenirs he is taking with him to Georgetown to remember his time in Providence.
Remember, he loves Providence.
