Lt. Governor Candidate Xay Khamsyvoravong Raises $120K in First 30 Days

Former Newport Mayor Xay Khamsyvoravong announced that his campaign for Lt. Governor has raised more than $120,000 in the first quarter of 2026, bringing total cash on hand to over $270,000. He presently serves on the Newport City Council.
The campaign said, “This early financial strength positions Xay to have the resources needed for robust voter outreach and community engagement.”
“The support we’ve received in just the first 30 days reflects the belief that we can build a stronger, more resilient Rhode Island by working shoulder to shoulder with the people we serve,” said Xay Khamsyvoravong. “I’m grateful for the trust so many leaders and community members have placed in me, and I’m proud of the team we’ve selected as we continue this work.”

Campaign Appointments:
In addition, the campaign announced the hiring of Jordan Day as Campaign Manager and Kristin Murphy as Finance Director.
Day brings extensive experience in statewide communications strategy, coalition‑building, and community engagement, having previously worked as Senior Deputy Chief Operating Officer for the City of Providence, Associate Director for the RI League of Cities and Towns, and Associate Policy Director for the RI State Senate.
Murphy, a seasoned fundraising professional, will oversee the campaign’s fundraising operations and donor management.
