“It is both an honor and a privilege — one I do not take lightly — to serve as Rhode Island’s Secretary of State,” Amore said. “I’m proud of the work we have been doing at the Department of State, and I’m excited to announce that I am running for reelection this year. We have accomplished much of what I ran on in 2022 — and there is still much more work to do.”

Xay Lands Polisena’s Endorsement

Former Newport Mayor Xay Khamsyvoravong, who announced earlier this month that he is challenging incumbent Lt. Governor Sabina Matos in the Democratic primary, has landed his first major endorsement.

Johnston Mayor Joseph Polisena, Jr. has endorsed him.

Morales Lands Another Endorsement

Former Providence City Councilman Terrence Hassett (Ward 12) has announced his endorsement of Rep. David Morales for Mayor of Providence. Councilman Hassett cited David’s integrity and commitment to fight for better city services as the determining factors in his endorsement.

“I am proud to endorse David Morales for Mayor of Providence,” said Councilman Hassett. “The status quo in our city is not working. Our community deserves leadership that will take the basics seriously, from streets that are consistently swept to building code violations being promptly addressed. People in Providence shouldn’t be forced to choose between a higher cost of living or city services that actually work. David has delivered real results for Providence in the General Assembly, and I know we can trust him to invest in city services and keep our neighbors in their homes.”

“I am grateful to have the support of Councilman Terrence Hassett,” said Rep. Morales. “During his 20 years on the Providence City Council, Councilman Hassett was among the first leaders to sound the alarm about the growing strain on Providence’s finances as tax-exempt institutions, like private universities, continued to acquire more property. His record of standing up for our neighborhoods and advocating for a stronger quality of life makes this endorsement especially meaningful, and I appreciate his support.”

Earlier this week, Morales announced two other endorsements.
