Legislators Tied to Providence City Hall Jobs Endorse Smiley

A press release from Brett Smiley’s campaign on Monday morning announced that two State House legislators are endorsing Brett Smiley’s reelection.

Both of the legislators have deep ties to Providence City Hall.

State Senator Ana Quezada and State Representative Grace Diaz announced their endorsement of Mayor Brett Smiley in his reelection campaign.

Diaz, who is an appointee of Smiley. She serves as the MBE/WBE Outreach Director for the City of Providence.

Quezada is a former city employee. She was a code inspector for the City of Providence for more than a decade.

And, her spouse, Lazaro E Quezada, is presently a city worker as well. Lazaro is a machine operator for the City of Providence, according to Ana’s Rhode Island Ethics Commission filing.

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of Senator Quezada and Representative Diaz - two exemplary leaders who have spent decades fighting for our city at the State House,” said Mayor Brett Smiley. “I’m grateful for their partnership on everything from supporting small businesses, to making childcare more accessible and affordable, to standing up to the Trump administration, and I look forward to continuing to work together in the years ahead to deliver for our community.”
