Two U.S. Service Members Killed in Iran War Are Now Identified

The United States has now identified two of the six military service members killed in the Iran War. Four others were previously reported.
Previously, the United States Department of War (DOW) announced that Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35; Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42; Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39; and Spc. Declan J. Coady, 20 died.

Now, Maj. Jeffrey O'Brien, 45, and Chief Warrant Officer Robert Marzan have been identified by the DOW.
"Marzan, 54, of Sacramento, Calif., was at the scene of the incident on March 1, 2026, in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, and is believed to be the individual who perished at the scene. Positive identification of Chief Warrant Officer 3 Marzan will be completed by the medical examiner. The Soldier was assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command, Des Moines, Iowa," wrote DOW.
"Brien, 45, of Indianola, Iowa, died on March 1, 2026, in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, during an unmanned aircraft system attack. The Soldier was assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command, Des Moines, Iowa. The incident is under investigation," added DOW.

All six service members were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command based in Des Moines, military officials said.
In addition to those who died, 18 other U.S. service members have suffered serious injuries, a U.S. official told NBC News.
"We honor our fallen Heroes, who served fearlessly and selflessly in defense of our nation. Their sacrifice, and the sacrifices of their families, will never be forgotten,” Lt. Gen. Robert Harter, chief of Army Reserve and commanding general of U.S. Army Reserve Command, said in a statement.
