401 Gives is “Changing Lives” - United Way of RI Halfway to $1 Million, One Day Fundraising Goal

UWRI's Cortney Nicolato joined GoLocal LIVE for an updated.

United Way of Rhode Island President Cortney Nicolato appeared on GoLocal LIVE Wednesday morning to provide an update on "401 Gives," the United Way's effort to raise $1 million for nonprofits in the state on April 1. 

"We’re really focused on making this the largest statewide giving day in Rhode Island," said Nicolato.

"This is truly changing lives -- people are losing their jobs and going to nonprofits seeking assistance," said Nicolato. 

Nicolato said that as of 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, that more than $550,000 had been raised for nonprofits across the state.

"If every Rhode Islander gives $10, $20 think how much can do to fill the need today," said Nicolato, who said that the full fundraising day runs through 6 a.m. Thursday morning. 

"You can step up and still stay in your pajamas," she said.
