As of 5 PM on Tuesday afternoon, Massachusetts still had 216,468 outages and Rhode Island had 7,015.

Massachusetts has 6.4 times the population but 35 times as many outages remaining.

In about two days, the number of outages — which hit a high of about 42,000 on Monday night — has decreased to 885.

Presently, the largest remaining outage block is in Narragansett. According to RIE, about 220 are still without power. Some of those are not expected to have their power restored until Friday, according to the RIE outage map.

“This has been a tough storm for our communities, and I know how stressful it is to be without power in this weather. Our crews have been working tirelessly around the clock,” Said RIE president Greg Cornett.

Thanks to strong preparation and our investment over the last several years in strengthening our grid, improving tree trimming standards, and deploying new technologies, we’ve restored 90% of customers in just over 24 hours,” said Cornett.

“For those still out, please know that we will not stop until every home and business is safely back online,” he added.

The one hiccup, early on Monday, RIE’s outage map went down.

Customers use the map to report outages and to track the estimated time for restoration.
