The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood watch and a wind advisory for Rhode Island, starting Tuesday evening and ending at 1 PM on Wednesday.

“Excessive rainfall of between two and three inches, with locally higher amounts up to four inches, falling tonight into Wednesday morning in combination with snowmelt may result in rapid stream and river rises,” says NWS. “Snow clogged drains may also contribute to the flood risk in poor drainage and urban areas.”

“Southeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected,” says NWS. “Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.”
