According to store employees, they threw bottles at the suspect.

About Incident

Shortly after 10 PM on Wednesday, police were called to United Wine and Spirits on Manton Avenue for a report of a robbery.

Police say that when they arrived, they met with the owner and an employee, who told officers that a "thin black male, wearing black sneakers, black pants, a white hooded sweater, black gloves, a black face mask and a dark grey beanie" came into the store.

According to the owner and employee, the suspect jumped up on the counter, brandished a knife, and demanded all the money in the register.

When the suspect then tried to open the register himself, the owner and employee told police they began throwing liquor bottles at him in self-defense.

The suspect then fled the scene on foot.

Police noted there were no injuries, and no money was stolen.
