Man Assaulted in Downtown Providence by Large Group of Men Early Saturday
Providence Police found a man who had been severely beaten by a group of men downtown early Saturday morning.

Additionally, Providence Police learned the man was repeatedly hit, his head was slammed against the sidewalk, and he was spat on.
The assault took place on Friendship Street shortly before 2 AM; according to information provided to police, the suspects ran from the scene towards Dean Street.
The man suffered significant injuries and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital by Providence Fire Rescue.
According to police, it is believed that the victim had previously been in the Coliseum club on Pine Street, where initial confrontations with the unknown suspects may have taken place before spreading on the street.
