Tens of thousands of marchers gathered in downtown Washington DC on Saturday for a pro-Palestinian protest.

Many of the signs were calling for a cease-fire. Others called the United States and Israel guilty of genocide.
There was a significant police presence, including heavily armed Secret Service officers — some carrying high-caliber guns.
The event began at Freedom Plaza at midday and continued to a march at the White House just blocks away.
“Now is the time to stand with the besieged people of Palestine! Gaza is being bombed by the hour. Its people are denied food, water and electricity by Israel. Tens of thousands more people are likely to die. We must ACT!” the Answer coalition warned on its website.
