UPDATED: Suspect Jumps Off Washington Bridge on 195 Attempting to Evade Police

A man jumped from the Washington Bridge on I-195 on Wednesday night — in an effort to evade police.
According to Providence police, a suspect was being pursued by East Providence law enforcement shortly after 6 PM.
The man, who had been in a vehicle, got out of the car on the Washington Bridge on I-195 between East Providence and Providence.

Authorities then searched for the man, who was located on the shore.
He was arrested by police.
The man was taken to a Providence hospital for treatment and then taken from the hospital into police custody.
