Police Officer Involved in Shooting on Providence’s East Side Friday Night

A Providence police officer was involved in a shooting on Providence’s East Side on Friday night.
Police report being called to a breaking-and-entering on Hope Street around 10 PM Friday night.
According to police, the tenant walked in while the suspect was still in the apartment unit.

The officer reportedly fired one shot at the suspect's vehicle.
Neither the suspect nor the officer was reportedly injured.
Police say they were able to apprehend the suspect on Transit Street.
According to the police, the suspect is facing multiple charges.

In the past week, there have been a number of incidents involving police officers. Two New York Police officers were killed responding to a reported domestic incident.
Two police officers were shot Wednesday afternoon in St. Louis; a Milwaukee sheriff's deputy was shot several times during a traffic stop Wednesday evening; and, three more police officers were shot in Houston on Thursday.
