Providence Police Save Suicidal Woman From Top Ledge of Biltmore Garage

Providence police helped save a suicidal woman downtown on Tuesday.
About Incident
Shortly before 9:30 AM, police were sent to the Biltmore Parking Garage on Eddy Street for a report of a distressed woman on the top floor, possibly considering attempting suicide.

Patrolmen James Cryan and Graig Sion first began communicating with the woman and attempted to convince her to come away from the ledge.
Patrolman Giuseppe Scarcello, who is a member of the crisis negotiation team, was called in to assist as well.
According to police, the woman became increasingly withdrawn and appeared to be panicking.
As police were continuing to engage the woman, officer Jared Stanzione was able to rush to the ledge and gain control of the woman.
The woman was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for a mental health evaluation and treatment.
