When police arrived, the woman was reportedly standing on the ledge.

Patrolmen James Cryan and Graig Sion first began communicating with the woman and attempted to convince her to come away from the ledge.

Patrolman Giuseppe Scarcello, who is a member of the crisis negotiation team, was called in to assist as well.

According to police, the woman became increasingly withdrawn and appeared to be panicking.

As police were continuing to engage the woman, officer Jared Stanzione was able to rush to the ledge and gain control of the woman.

The woman was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for a mental health evaluation and treatment.
