UPDATED: Providence Police Have Man in Custody Who Reportedly Took Weapon to Church

Providence Police were called to St. Mary’s Church on Broadway on Monday after calls from parishioners that a man had come to the church with a weapon.
The man reportedly left the church premises and entered an adjacent apartment building. More than a dozen Providence police using shields were seen outside an apartment.
According to Providence police, the suspect was taken into custody.

Upon searching the apartment, police said they located a 9mm pistol.
Nesbitt is be charged with disorderly conduct and carrying a pistol without a license.

On Saturday, St. Mary's Priest James Jackson was arrested by the Rhode Island State Police’s Police/Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force for Possession of Child Pornography, Transfer of Child Pornography, and Child Erotica Prohibited.
The Diocese of Providence has not made a comment or issued a statement.
