Police Respond to Report of Woman Robbed at Knifepoint on East Side of Providence

Providence police were dispatched to 297 President Avenue shortly after 6:30 PM on Friday for a report of a first-degree robbery.
Police met with the female victim, age 67, who said she was walking her dog when an “older, dark color sedan, with a loud muffler” pulled up alongside her and a male subject exited the vehicle.
The woman told police the male subject went up to her and asked her, “Do you know where Douglas is?”

She said he asked for the purse she was holding, and she surrendered her bag, which she said was a Coach purse containing her phone.
According to police, the woman said he got back in the car and drove down President toward Blackstone Boulevard.
Police broadcast the incident to law enforcement and brought the woman back to her residence.
