NEW: Man Shot in Providence

A man was shot in Providence on Friday night.

Shortly after 8 PM, police responded to the 400 block of Manton Avenue for a call for a shooting.

According to police, they located the victim - a male in his 30s - on Atwells Avenue, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach.

He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

Police said that officers located a trail of blood from Manton Avenue to the housing development on Salmon Street; officers said shell casings and bullets were located on Fairfield Avenue.

The shooting is under investigation.
