One of Providence’s Favorites, PVDonuts Faces Summons

PVDonuts was once one of Providence’s favorite eateries. When it opened more than a decade ago, the donut shop had fans literally lining up by the hundreds.
It was first located on Allen’s Avenue and received rave reviews.
It moved to Ives Street, and the lines continued.

In May of 2022, GoLocal reported that the shop posted, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce we’ll be moving on from our home of 7 years on Ives Street. To keep it short, we could not come to a financially sustainable agreement on a lease renewal. Don’t worry - we’ve already started working on our new home and are prioritizing the kitchen as to not impact any weddings/special events that we’re booked for during our downtime!”
The new location on Wickenden Street was bright and airy, but a transfer in ownership saw changes. In February, it announced it was closed and would be opening in the near future.
Court Summons
Currently, multiple copies of a court summons are posted on the front window of the shop.
The summons is for “Star Select Holdings LLC,” doing business as PVDonuts, to appear in District Court on May 19.
They are being sued by landlord “Lower Wick Properties LLC,” who is being represented by East Side attorney Michael Crane
“If you fail to appear on the date stated below, judgment by default will be taken against you,” according to the summons.
Neither Crane nor PVDonuts responded to questions at the time of publication.
The summons shows that it was posted by a constable on May 11. According to the state's judicial files, the action related to "Commercial Property Eviction Complaint."
