Man Driving Car Reports Being Hit by Bullets on North Main Street in Providence

A vehicle was struck by bullets on North Main Street in Providence on Tuesday morning. 

The shooting happened just blocks from where shots fired at the Providence Fire Station on North Main Street -- as well as at Billy Taylor Park -- on Friday night.

Shortly after 1 AM on Tuesday, Providence Police responded to reports of shots fired by Duncan Avenue off North Main Street. 

The police met with the caller, who said that as he was driving on North Main Street and nearing Jenkins Street, he heard gunshots -- and said he felt his vehicle being hit.

He told police he sped away and parked his car on Duncan Street, where he observed two bullets holes.

One bullet struck the rear driver’s side door and the other, the driver’s side mirror.

Police searched the area of the reported shooting and found over a dozen spent shell casings. 

The driver was not injured in the shooting.

Police are currently investigating.
