Both Governor Dan McKee and independent gubernatorial candidate Ken Block are blasting former CVS president and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Helena Foulkes.

On Saturday, GoLocal published a report unveiling that while Foulkes was president of CVS in 2017, the company was the largest donor to President Trump in late 2017.

The genesis was a series of stories and reports in early 2018 by the Wall Street Journal, Open Secrets, and GoLocal about CVS being cited as the top PAC donor to Trump, who was just a year into his first term.

Foulkes, in her new TV commercial, claimed that she would take on Trump and protect Rhode Island — See the ad below

McKee Blasts Foulkes

"The record is clear: as a top executive at CVS, Helena Foulkes helped bankroll Donald Trump,” said McKee campaign spokeswoman Sophie Mestas. “The PAC she contributed to was the single largest donor to his campaign in 2017. Before that, Foulkes was personally writing checks to Mitch McConnell, who helped make Donald Trump's disastrous presidency possible. Now she wants credit for standing up to a ‘guy like Donald Trump,’ when in reality, her own money funded him. How could Rhode Islanders believe she’d show any courage as Governor?"

Block ripped Foulkes as well, saying, “Helena Foulkes states in her new TV ad that she will 'stand up to Trump. As reported by GolocalProv, Foulkes contributed heavily to Trump as a top executive at CVS.”

“Foulkes' empty words are not leadership. They are just the standard double-speak that so many RI politicians send our way,” added Block.

McKee’s campaign also stated, “Rhode Islanders can't afford a governor who spent years writing checks to Donald Trump and his enablers. Governor McKee has spent every day in office standing up to Trump's attacks on Rhode Islanders' jobs and health care – and that's exactly what he will continue to do."

No word from Foulkes’ campaign.
