Man Shot by Masked Individuals With BB Guns in Providence

Police are investigating a report of a man being injured in a BB gun assault — by masked individuals — overnight in Providence.
It marks the latest in a recent string of BB and pellet gun crimes in the city.

Shortly before 11 PM on Monday, police responded to the Family Dollar store at 48 Plainfield Street for a report of suspicious activity.
According to police, they met with the victim — a male in his 40s — who said that as he standing in front of the store, a sedan with four masked individuals pulled up in a sedan and began shooting BB guns at him.
Police noted a welt and redness to the victim’s hand; they also reported windows being shattered at the store.
Detectives are currently investigating.
BB Gun Crime Plaguing City
In March, police said they were investigating whether multiple BB gun shootings over one weekend were part of a TikTok challenge.
Classical High School students were shot, and incidents took place across the city.
In April, two Brown University students reported being struck in a pellet gun assault on Providence’s East Side.
