Top Rhode Island realtor Heidi Farmer has gone west to California — for a big reunion gig with her band that was started by Pandora founder Tim Westergren.

Pop band YellowWood Junction will be performing on September 9 at the Guild Theater in Menlo Park in San Francisco, more than 25 years since its last performance.

Westergren went on launch the music streaming platform giant Pandora in 2000 along with Will Glaser and Jon Kraft.

About Band

YWJ had toured extensively, performing with acts like Train, Calobo and the Derek Trucks Band, building a large fan base in California, Oregon, Colorado, Washington, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho.

The YWJ sound “features the smooth vocal blend of it's two lead singers Brian Wachhorst and singer/songwriter Heidi Farmer (former Bay Area headliner), backed by Kevin Woodhouse on drums/percussion, David Hicks on bass, and the brilliant creative electric guitar work of Joe Satriani protege Ned Evett, all glued together by Westergren’s well written soulful keyboard parts.”

According to YWK, the band performs the night before the Stanford-USC football game this weekend — “which promises to have the rival schools’ alumni in the audience.”

About Farmer

Farmer writes of her musical “story:

"My journey began on an upright piano in my grandparent’s living room.  At the age of 5, I was singing and playing Scott Joplin tunes thrilled with the harmonies of piano and voice.  By the age of 13, I was spending hours in my room with two cassette tape recorders layering vocals to my favorite James Taylor, Carly Simon, Carol King & CSN songs.  In high school and college I performed with various Acapella groups and sat in with local bands but it wasn't until I packed up and moved to San Francisco after college that I began to pursue my dream of singing professionally.

I began like every young artist moving through a variety of bands and lineups.  I was writing, playing, recording with many bay area greats and up and comers like Train & Box Set, and was the lead vocalist for the popular 80/90's cover band The Distractions.   I am grateful to have been able to share the stage by sitting in with Boz Scaggs, John Lee Hooker, Spin Doctors, and members of Big Head Todd.

At 27 it all came together when a line-up of talented all-star musicians came together to form YellowWood Junction Headlining clubs like Great American Music Hall, Sweetwater, Slims, & Bimbo's Nightclub. Cemented by a love of harmony and a creative passion we toured the western states and recorded the full-length studio album ‘After Today.'   (Our gifted keyboardist and incredible songwriter, Tim Westergren, came up with a brilliant idea to start a company named Pandora).

Years later I continue to push myself musically.  You can find me every day singing, strumming the guitar, creating on the piano, or tapping my bongos….all in pursuit of that perfect Harmony. I am writing again, so here I am ready for what’s next.  I live to work on music with young artists and veteran players.  Harmony is my first love and I fill all the corners of my life with this love.  I live to make beautiful sounds.

Speaking of harmonies please check out my group called "The New England Girls" - My two wonderful singing friends Tara and Karen who I met on Smule.
