“Over the past several days, several neighbors have contacted our campaign to report that their lawn signs were stolen, vandalized or removed from their property. After conducting an inventory, we discovered that more than 30+ signs had been taken,” said Goncalves. “We have since obtained video footage showing a suspect removing campaign lawn signs from supporters’ properties. In this instance, the suspect is seen removing and taking four signs.”
“This is about more than lawn signs. Every sign represents a resident exercising their right to participate in our democracy and express their support,” he continued. “If you recognize the individual in this video or have additional information or footage, please contact our campaign or local authorities. If your lawn sign was stolen or damaged, please reach out so we can replace it,”
Goncalves added, “We do not ask that you name the suspect as a comment in this post. Our goal is to identify the individual involved and gather any relevant information, not to encourage speculation, harassment, or personal attacks. If you recognize the person in the video or have additional information or footage that may be helpful, please contact our campaign privately or reach out to local authorities. We ask everyone to approach this matter with respect.”
Providence Police did not respond to a request for comment at the time of publication.
