Darrell West Talks 2016 Election at Newport Art Museum on Saturday

Darrell West returns to Rhode Island this Saturday to kick off the Newport Art Museum's Winter Speakers Series.

The Newport Art Museum will host "How to Watch the 2016 Elections" featuring guest speaker Darrell West. The forum comes as part of the Museum's Winter Speaker Series and will start at 2 p.m.

During the discussion, West will talk about the candidates, issues and strategies involved in the 2016 elections.

"With major challenges in domestic and foreign policy, the 2016 campaign is shaping up as one of the most important in recent years," said West.

West will those in attendance what to watch for and how they should evaluate the nominating processes in the Republican and Democratic primaries.

Darrell West

An expert on public policy, West is the Vice President of Governance Studies and Founding Director of the Center for Technology Innovation at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC. A familiar face in Rhode Island, West was the John Hazen White Professor of Political Science and Public Policy and Director of the Taubman Center for Public Policy at Brown University.

Newport Art Museum

The Newport Art Museum is located at 76 Bellevue Avenue and hosts the Winter Speaker Series every Saturday from January 9 to February 20th. All forums begin at 2 p.m.

Other guests for the Winter Speaker Series include marine photographer Onne van der Wal, retired military general Peter Zwack, Kenneth Miller to talk about evolution, Museum of Fine Art, Boston curator Elliot Bostwick Davis, President and Artistic Director at 2nd Story Theatre in Warren Ed Shea and RISD Museum curator Elizabeth Williams.
