Track 15 Announces Two New Food Additions

Track 15 will be home to two new vendors this spring: a second location for Newport’s acclaimed Yagi Noodles and a new concept, Grumpy Pies.
The food hall has been one of the most exciting and innovative additions to Providence in decades and has attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors in its first year.

The two new additions' details are:
Chef Ian Cappelano and his new concept, Grumpy Pies, serving Roman-style party pizza, or “pizza alla pala,” beginning on April 2nd. Pizzas will be offered whole, half, and by the slice daily with a rotating selection highlighting domestic and European charcuterie and cheeses, seasonal inspiration, and some new “trashy” favorites. Chef Ian, who was part of the Mother Pizzeria PVD team, will also expand the use of the Marra Forni oven beyond pizzas, taking inspiration from his ancestral roots of direct fire-cooked cuisine. Grumpy Pies will hold a soft opening on Wednesday, April 1st with cooking demos and sampling, and Chef Ian will host that evening’s Station Tastings.
“I am excited for the opportunity to open Grumpy Pies at Track 15,” said Chef Ian. “Not only does it fulfill a dream of mine, but it will showcase an underrepresented style of pizza in a vibrant space. In a state with a long tradition of other styles of bakery pies, I’m looking forward to bringing ‘pizza alla pala’ to the forefront of the pizza conversation.”

The second addition is award-winning Yagi Noodles from Newport. Beginning in late April, Track 15 guests will be able to enjoy Asian-inspired comfort food from co-owners Chef Basil Yu and Kodi Keith, featuring handmade noodles made with whole wheat unbleached flour from Ground Up Grain in Hadley, MA. Chef Yu was nominated in 2024 as a James Beard semi-finalist for Best Chef in the Northeast and was named StarChefs’ “Rising Star” for Coastal New England in 2023.
“The timing could not be better for us to take advantage of this opportunity to join our friends at Track 15 and bring Yagi Noodles to a broader audience of locals and visitors to Rhode Island,” said Chef Basil Yu, co-owner, Yagi Noodles.
“The strength of the culinary community here in Rhode Island – something we’ve strived to showcase since we opened our doors – is what brought us to this moment,” continued Marsella. “Kevin not only had Ian as part of his talented team at Mother here in Providence, but it was he who first introduced us to Basil almost three years ago…and then it was Basil who brought us Chef Alp of Tolia. Only in Rhode Island can this happen. It feels like kismet to be able to welcome another Newport institution like Yagi here into the Track 15 family in Providence. We’re excited for this next chapter.”
Big Addition for Providence Celebrated Its One-Year Anniversary
Track 15 burst onto the scene a year ago with one of the biggest and boldest investments in Providence. It is located at 1 Union Station in downtown Providence.
The two concepts will replace Giusto PVD and Mother Pizzeria PVD, who will not be renewing their Track 15 locations so that they can focus their full attention on their Newport base of operations.
“It was an incredible honor to have been part of this landmark project and to bring a little taste of Newport to Providence,” said Kevin O’Donnell, Chef and Owner of Giusto and Partner at Mother Pizzeria. “We are grateful to the Marsella family for their support throughout this journey and to our fellow restaurateurs for their camaraderie."
"This is a bittersweet moment,” said Chris Marsella, Owner, Track 15. “Kevin, Brian, Lauren, Kyle, and the entire Giusto and Mother Pizzeria teams have become family, and we will miss having them represented at Track 15."

About Track 15:
Track 15, located at 1 Union Station in Providence, RI, is a vibrant, 18,000 square-foot food hall located in the historic Union Station in downtown Providence, Rhode Island. Built in 1898, the original Union Station consisted of 14 intercity rail lines and operated until 1986, when the smaller Amtrak station was built. The food hall’s name Track 15 is a nod to Union Station’s earliest days as the hub of southeastern New England’s transportation network, supporting the machinery, textile, and jewelry industries that fueled the growth and future of Providence.
A haven for foodies, Track 15 is home to seven Rhode Island-based restaurateurs each offering a unique and delicious concept. Guests can try modern Indian from Little Chaska, Middle Eastern cuisine from Tolia, seafood from Dune Brothers, Mexican from Dolores, burgers from There, There, all while enjoying a large central bar, indoor and outdoor seating for approximately 600 patrons, an entertainment venue, and a 10,000 square foot plaza for outdoor seating and special events. Track 15 is open Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.track15RI.com.
