With the game tied at two in the second half, the Rams attempted to clear a ball in the box in the 87th minute, a Syracuse player was clipped and fell to the ground, drawing the penalty.

Syracuse’s Ryan Raposo converted the penalty kick to give the Orange a 3-2 lead.

Following the penalty kick, URI was unable to generate a shot on goal.

URI Battles Early

Rhode Island got on the board first in the 31st minute when Filippo Tamburini was able to deflect a Peder Kristiansen corner into the net to take a 1-0 lead.

The Orange tied the score less than two minutes later when Luther Archimede got his head on a free-kick from Ryan Raposo.

It looked like URI goalkeeper Stefan Schmidt had the shot under control, but the ball bounced up and crossed the goalline before Schmidt could get to it.

The Orange took the lead in the 43rd minute when Severin Soerlie got behind the Rams defense and took a through ball.

With the advantage of spacing, Soerlie carried the ball into the box and set up Raposo with a cross that was put in the back of the net.

The Rams battled back in the 70th minute, as Noam Kolakofsky got behind the Syracuse defense.

The ball was sent into the box when Niklas Middrup headed it forward. Simon Trcka grazed the ball, helping it slip by two defenders to Kolakofsky, who found the back of the net.
