The Preserve OPEN was announced on Wednesday and called the “Greatest Day in Golf.” The PGA open tournament sponsored by BENRUS, the RI-based lifestyle brand, will offer more than $20 million in cash and prizes.

The event will be played on June 18, 2015 on the championship course at The Preserve in Richmond, RI and will be broadcast by ESPN and NESN.

“The course at The Preserve, stretching over 3200 yards, was designed by famed golf course architect Robert McNeil.  Its 200-foot elevation changes and rolling hills offer game-raising challenges for professionals and novices alike,” said Paul Mihailides, chairman of The Preserve.

"Our goal at BENRUS is to focus on investing in the United States and in Rhode Island first and foremost,” said Giovanni Feroce, Chairman and CEO of BENRUS, LLC.  “The Preserve Open presents an opportunity for us to showcase our state’s natural beauty, fantastic workforce, and BENRUS' superior marketing capabilities in partnership with a world class organization in the PGA Tour.  We look forward to being the Presenting Sponsor of ‘Greatest Day in Golf’” said Feroce.

Tee shots in the 18-hole, par 3 tournament final provides opportunities for golfers to earn $1 million for a hole-in-one.*  The resulting high drama and intense pressure will grab the attention of the golfing world plus a huge general audience. The tournament will be broadcast by ESPN and NESN.

The Preserve is an exclusive, four-season sporting retreat unique in the Northeast. “I have placed the preservation of some of Rhode Island’s most glorious natural resources among my highest priorities,” said Mihailides.  “I am certain that our diverse facilities, like The Preserve OPEN they host, collectively will become a long-term, major economic engine for Rhode Island, generating significant tourism revenues and employing over 500 people.”
