Teal Bunbury scores to give Revolution a 1-0 lead

The New England Revolution rolled past the Rochester Rhinos 3-0 in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday night at Providence College's Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.

"This was a great venue. I thought it was actually extremely tight, I love the way that the crowd was. You felt like they were right on top of us. And I think we put on a pretty good — it was a good atmosphere — and we put on a good show in that atmosphere. It’s an awesome venue as well. Loved the field, loved the sideline locker rooms. It was a really cool place," said Revolution head coach Jay Heaps after the match.

The Revs were in Providence for the first time since the 2014 Open Cup. That year, they played at Brown University against the Rhinos, a game the Revs won 2-1.

New England will find out their next Open Cup opponent in the round of 16 on Thursday morning.

"Obviously, I'm happy for the guys. We came about it the right way. The guys approached it the right way, set up a good team, and obviously I thought it was back and forth. And obviously, the game changed when the red card came, but I thought our guys handled the situation well and capitalized on it," said Heaps.

The Revolution got on the board in the first half when forward Teal Bunbury was awarded a penalty kick after being taken down in the box. On the kick, Bunbury fired it to the bottom right corner, beating Rhinos goalkeeper Tomas Gomez to give the Revolution a 1-0 lead.

The Revs would take that 1-0 lead into the half.
