Revolution legend Taylor Twellman has played in four of previous six games against Rhinos

The New England Revolution will face the Rochester Rhinos in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup in Providence on Wednesday night. The game will mark the seventh all-time meeting between the two teams.

“I think for us, we obviously know that there is a history there. We feel like we understand the organization, but the players are going to make the difference. Our focus is on taking a look at where we think they are as a group and where we can take advantage of that and also be very mindful of what they are good at,” said Revolution head coach Jay Heaps during his press conference on Monday.

Revolution vs Rhinos

The last time the Revolution and Rhinos played was during the 2014 U.S. Open Cup in Providence at Brown University. The Revolution won the game 2-1 on first half goals by Saer Sene and Kelyn Rowe.

Overall, the Revolution are 4-0-2 against the Rhinos, and 2-0-1 at home.

“I think it is always tough these early games. I don’t know what it is, but I feel like every MLS team that faces a lower division team is always a good battle. I don’t know if it is a mindset where we go in already expecting to win the game, or if it’s the other way around where the other team says ‘hey we have nothing to lose why not give it all we have.’ So we have to find that right balance in being confident, but not overly confident,” said Revolution midfielder Teal Bunbury in his press conference on Monday.
