PC Blows Out Shorthanded Georgetown 76-60 in Big East Opener

Prior to the game, it was announced that Georgetown star guard Mac McClung would not play due to an eye injury.
So far this season, McClung has carried the Hoyas, averaging 15 points per game and shooting nearly 40% from three.

Despite the loss of several players, Georgetown had won six straight games coming into Tuesday night, including victories over Oklahoma State and Syracuse.
With the win, the Friars are now 8-6 overall and 1-0 in the Big East.
Georgetown falls to 10-4 overall, and 0-1 in conference.
PC Cruises
Providence got out to a fast start in the game and Georgetown was never able to recover.
Already up 10-0, Emmitt Holt got a layup to go to put the Friars up 12-0 in the opening minutes.
A layup by Alpha Diallo gave the Friars a 14-0 lead with 14:43 to play in the frame.
The Hoyas would not get their first points until the 13:38 mark of the first half when Jagan Mosely knocked down two free throws o make the score 14-2.
Georgetown’s first field goal came at the 12:55 mark of the half, the Qudus Wahab hit a jumper to make the score 16-4 Friars.
The Friars would take leads of 28-8 and then 38-10 after back-to-back threes from Holt and Diallo with 6:30 to play in the half.
The Friars would take a 54-23 lead into the locker room.
In the second half, PC’s lead was never threatened.
The Hoyas got as close as 16, 65-49, with 10:26 to play and within 14 in the final minute.
PC would cruise to the win.
The Friars were led by Diallo, who had 20 points, while Luwane Pipkins followed up with 14.
Providence, who struggled offensively throughout the non-conference season, shot 54% from the field and 40% from three in the game.
In the first half, PC shot over 60% from the field.
Reeves Gets Going
A positive for the Friars in the game was the play of guard A.J. Reeves.
Reeves began the year in the starting lineup, but then was moved to the bench while the Friars were out in Los Angeles.
On Tuesday night, Reeves hit back-to-back step-back threes with 1:56 and 29 seconds to play in the half to give Providence a 54-21 lead.
Reeves finished the game with 13 points on 3-of-8 shooting from three and 5-of-11 shooting from the field.

The Friars return to action on Saturday, January 4 when they visit DePaul.
Game time is set for 2 p.m.
