Diallo Scores 14 in 2nd Half, PC Rallies Past DePaul 71-64

Alpha Diallo scored 14 points in the second half to help the Providence College Friars rally past DePaul 71-64 on Friday night in Chicago.

Diablo finished the game with a total of 16 points on 5 of 11 shooting from the field.

The win improves the Friars to 12-6 overall and 3-2 in the Big East.

Friars Rally in 2nd Half

Providence trailed by as much as 12 points, 46-34, with 17:02 left in the game after trailing 35-34 at the break.

From that point, Diallo scored eight of the next ten points for PC, sparking them to a 20-0 run to take a 56-46 lead following a Rodney Bullock layup with 9:48 to play.

DePaul would get within three, 67-64, following a three by Max Strus with 1:40 to play the game. They had a chance to tie the game, but Strus missed a three with 20 seconds to play.

Off of the missed three, Isaiah Jackson threw a pass the length of the floor to Bullock for a dunk with 16 seconds to play to put the Friars up 69-64.

Jackson would convert two free throws in the final seconds to give PC the 71-64 win.

The win snaps a two-game losing streak at DePaul.

Jalen Lindsey led PC with 18 points, while Bullock followed up with 12. 

Next up

Providence returns to action Monday, January 14 when they host Butler at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
