Multiple sources are reporting that Mike Vrabel will be hired as the New England Patriots' next head coach. He will succeed the fired Jerod Mayo, who was 4-13 in his one year as coach.

Vrabel served as Tennessee Titans head coach from 2018-23, posting a 54-45 regular-season record and 2-3 mark in the playoffs, which included an appearance to the AFC Championship Game in 2019; he was selected as the Associated Press NFL Coach of the Year in 2021.

Vrabel was a star linebacker for the Patriots from 2001 to 2008 and was a member of three Super Bowl championship teams.

He played college football at Ohio State, where he was a consensus All-American, and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 1997 NFL draft.

During his four years with the Steelers, he was mainly a reserve player before joining the New England Patriots as a free agent in 2001.
