Kraft Announces the Patriots Fire Mayo After One Season

The New England Patriots have fired coach Jerod Mayo after one season, Bob Kraft announced Sunday.

The Patriots finished 4-13 in Mayo's single season as head coach, including Sunday's 23-16 victory over the Buffalo Bills.

The victory dropped New England from picking No. 1 in the 2025 draft to No. 4 instead.

Mayo, a former linebacker for the Patriots, was hired earlier this year to replace coach Bill Belichick, who won six Super Bowl titles with the team.
