Anderson's Career-High 32 Points Lifts Brown Over Canisius 75-68

Brandon Anderson poured in a career-high 32 points to lead the Brown men’s basketball team to a 75-68 win over Canisius on Saturday afternoon at the Pizzitola Center.

“I’m really proud of the team. It wasn’t pretty, but the run at the beginning of the second half really helped,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin after the game.

Anderson's 32 points came on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and 12-of-14 shooting from the free-throw line. He hit a career-high four threes, dished out five assists and recorded four steals.

During the game, Anderson also notched his 1,000th career point and now ranks 19th in Brown history with 1,017 points.

"Congratulations to Brandon on his 1,000thpoint. He's been unbelievable all pre-season, in our exhibition and our two games,” Martin added.

Brown improves to 2-0 on the season, while Canisius opens the season with a 0-1 record.

Brown Holds On

Trailing 32-31 in the second half, Brown went on a 20-0 run to take a 52-31 lead on a layup by Anderson with 13:57 left in the game.

From that point, Canisius went on a 26-3 run to cut Brown’s lead to 58-54 on two free throws with 3:37 left to play. 

Anderson answered with a three to push the Bears lead back up to 61-54.

The Gold Griffins would make another charge, this time pulling to within three, 61-58, with 2:10 left to go. 

However, from there Brown took control.

The Bears extended their lead to 66-58 on two free throws by Anderson, two more by senior Zach Hunsaker, and another by sophomore David Mitchell to seal the win.

Next Up

Brown returns to action on Wednesday, November 13 when they host Quinnipiac.

Game time is set for 7 p.m.
