The University of Rhode Island women’s basketball team upset #25 ranked Princeton University 60-58.

It is the Rams' first win over a nationally ranked opponent in program history.

The Rams (6-3) led 60-56 after Sophie Phillips drained a pair of free throws with 15 seconds to go. The visiting Tigers (5-3) got a layup from Parker Hill to make it a two-point game with seven seconds to go. A URI turnover on an in-bounds play gave Princeton a final chance with 2.2 seconds on the clock.

On the final possession, Mayé Touré knocked away the initial inbound pass, leaving just 0.3 seconds on the clock. One last chance for the Tigers was denied as Anäelle Dutat tipped the last inbound pass, causing the clock to run out. An official review confirmed the defensive gem, clinching the win for Rhode Island.

The offensive prowess of Dee Dee Davis and defensive rebounding from Touré paved the way for Rhode Island. Davis scored a season-high 21 points - including 14 in the second quarter alone - as she put the team on her back. Meanwhile, Touré grabbed nine of her game-high 10 boards on the defensive end, which was a big reason the Rams limited Princeton to just four second-chance points on the day.
