Democratic candidate for Mayor Brett Smiley has unveiled his 7-point "Good Government Plan". The plan includes pay-to-play contribution limits for those seeking loans or tax stabilization agreements from the City and a two-year ban on any former city employee lobbying the City.

Smiley has received the endorsement of Lt. Governor Elizabeth Roberts.

Roberts said, "Brett's 'Good Government Plan' -- creating an open and honest government that levels the playing field for all our residents -- is at the very heart of Brett's vision for Providence. Frankly, it is exactly what Providence needs in its next mayor. Brett Smiley is the candidate with the ideas and substance to get things done for the people of Providence, and this plan demonstrates once again his commitment to working tirelessly to improve the lives of people in every corner of our capital city."

Brett Smiley said, "Lt. Governor Roberts has stood up for ethics and good government every day of her career, and I'm honored to have her endorsement. Taken together, the seven elements of this plan create an honest, trustworthy, and merit-based city government that actively draws on the talents of all Providence residents and moves us away from the "know a guy" culture in City Hall. As Mayor, I will send the strongest possible message that my administration is not for sale and we will not return to the failed, corrupt politics of the past."
