NEW: Smiley Unveils Education Plan for Providence

Brett Smiley, Democratic candidate for Mayor of Providence, has released a comprehensive plan to improve quality of public education in the city.
Smiley has made education reform one of his primary campaign issues.
The plan, entitled "School Success: Achievement for All,” focuses on building curriculums around science, history and the arts, hiring and keeping the best available teachers, and increased collaboration between district and charter schools, among other efforts.

"Our schools need it all - strong teachers, better technology, more arts, more sports, renovated facilities, and a culture of innovative learning that allows every student in every classroom in every school to excel,” Smiley said of his plan. "An investment in our young people is the best investment we can make."
