The owner of a deli shop in Massachusetts faced swift backlash after commenting online that U.S. Senator Kamala Harris made her way to the top through sex.

Michael Bartosiewicz, who owns Bushel ’N Peck in Grafton, posted to an anti-liberal Facebook page that the way Harris climbed to the top was “sucking c—k."

Ricky King Russell captured and posted the screengrab on Wednesday, pointing out Bartosiewicz owned the deli — and some commenters called for a boycott of the business.

The first apology from the deli was published by store manager Michael Ashely — not Bartosiewicz.

Ashley posted to a Grafton town page the following.

“Thank you for all your support. To those that were offended we send our sincerest apology. The owner of the business recently posted an unfortunate comment that does not reflect the operation of the business owned or the staff who work tirelessly to serve the community.

We love our job and being able to serve the community especially in these unsure times. We take great pride and honor in that. We have overwhelmingly appreciated the support the entire town(s) and surrounding areas have given us through COVID at all four locations through Worcesterart, Grafton, and Clinton. We hope that our service and food will shine about this incident and the Bushel N Peck will have the honor of serving for years to come."

Owner Finally Comes Forward

Bartosiewicz then personally apologized Thursday morning with the following post.

To my family, friends, staff, and community:

I would like to apologize for the crudeness and vulgarity of the comment I made in regards to Senator Harris. It was a lapse of judgement, and it was in extremely poor taste. I can assure this won't happen again, and I have learned a very valuable lesson. Thank you to those continuing to support my business, staff, and family. I hope to continue to serve you in the days to come.

Sincerely, Michael Bartosiewicz
