Possible Connection Between Recent Armed Robberies of Rolexes on Federal Hill, Say Police

Providence police are looking into whether a reported shooting - and robbery - overnight are related to another recent incident of similar crime on Federal Hill.
Early Monday morning, a man was shot while sitting in his car alongside his girlfriend, outside the Walgreens on Atwells Avenue, shortly after midnight.
According to police, the victim was driving a Bentley Continental — and after he was shot, was robbed of necklaces valued at $16,000, and a Presidential Rolex valued at $40,000.

The two men were robbed early in July at gunpoint of Rolexes valued at over $100,000 combined.
“We are investigating a possible link, yes. Anytime we see similar crimes, we look into whether they are related,” said Providence Detectives Major David Lapatin on Monday.
